Dominating Key Words In Search Engines

Search engines have become our main source of finding practically anything. News, products, and everything in between can be found with a few clicks. Unfortunately, that means a ton of competition for hitting that first page on Google results. Upwards of 75% of people don’t bother going past the first page of Google results.

Keywords help search engines pick up content with exact or near-exact copies of what is typed into the search bar. Knowing what keywords are being searched in relation to what services or products are offered is a key pillar in building a widely recognized internet presence.

Keyword Domination

Competition is heavy among keywords. Depending on the percentage of results on specific keywords, it is incredibly difficult to place at the top solely depending on the highest searched words. Finding keywords or phrases your content can easily dominate should be mixed equally with those higher searched words. Having a balance raises the percentage of search engines pulling up your content due to multiple keywords used.

Keywords Aren’t Just For Headers

Do you post videos or short clips on platforms like YouTube? Implementing keywords in titles and descriptions is another way to have your content show up in search results. Google’s video tab pulls up videos with matching keywords, and if the match is close enough will show videos on the general results page.

Social media hashtags are another version of keyword domination limited to the specific platform used. The algorithm for social media platforms generally places posts on ‘for you feed’ is more based on the engagement of the post rather than hashtags. However, when a user searches the hashtag specifically your post will show up.

Chose Words Carefully

Before you hone in on a specific group of keywords or phrases do your due diligence. A keyword can be highly searched yet is incredibly difficult to implement naturally in a written context. Find words that flow with the content you are producing. You don’t want your content to look like a robot spitting out words based on an algorithm. Engage your audience while implementing keyword strategies and producing necessary content. Balance is key!
